PROPHETIC NARRATIONS
Jabir bin Abdullah (Radhiallah hu anhu) narrated, “I heard the Prophet (Salallahu alihi wasalam) saying, ‘ if there is any healing in your medicines, then it is in cupping, a gulp of honey or branding with fire (cauterization) that suites the ailment, but I don’t like to be (cauterized) branded with fire.’“ (Bukhari)
Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) reported that the Rasul (SAW) said, “I did not pass by any angel from the angels on the night journey except that they all said to me, "Upon you is Hijama, O Muhammad.” (Sahee Sunnan ibn Maajah, 3477)
It is recorded from Ibn Mas’ood (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Whenever I passed by a group of angels, on my night journey, they said, ‘O Muhammad! Order you people to practice cupping!” (Sahih Al Jaami, 5671)
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA), the Nabi (SAW) said: The best medical treatment you apply is Hijama. (Abu Dawud, 22:3848)
Rasoolallah (SAW) said, ‘Jibraeel (AS) repeatedly emphasised upon me to resort to Hijama to the extent that I feared that hijama will be made compulsory.’ (Jamul Wasaail page 179)
Salma (RA) (The servant girl of the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “None ever complained to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) of a headache but he told him to get himself cupped, or of a pain in his legs but he told him to dye them (with henna/mehndi). (Dawud, At-Tibb. Considered authentic by Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak, 3/206)
Jabir (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was treated with Cupping on his hip because of a bruise/sprain he suffered from. (Abu-Dawud)
Narrated Ibn Abbas: That the Messenger of Allah was treated with Cupping on his head while he was in ihram due to a migraine that he had. (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
