TUI NA MEDICAL MASSAGE

TUI NA MEDICAL MASSAGE

INVIGORATE THE FLOW...

Tui Na, (pronounced “twee na”) is a deep tissue Chinese massage, and is a fundamental part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), along with Acupuncture, Acupressure, Chinese Herbs, Cupping, Moxibustion, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Tui Na is used in many hospitals in China as the first and only choice of healthcare.

Tui Na (which literally means push and grab) incorporates the TCM theory that injury or disease causes blockages in the channels of the body. Blockages cause pain.

There are many techniques used, such as kneading, chopping, hacking, perpendicular pressure, and rolling fist, which the therapist will use to remove tension/spasm in the muscles and blockages of Chi in the channels. This makes Tui Na a complete massage, because there are two aspects to it: firstly, just like western massages, it works the muscles helping them to relax, removing stagnation and allowing the blood to flow more freely throughout the area, giving the muscle the optimum chance of repairing itself. Secondly, because of its Eastern origins, it works with restoring the balance of Chi. Tui Na presses on certain acupressure points in the body’s meridian system to stimulate the body’s own healing process.
Qi, is universal life force energy, which all living forms have. When one’s Chi is strong, well balanced and flowing freely throughout the body, then the individual is healthy, free from illnesses and dis-eases.

The treatment is carried out once the client has been assessed. The client will either lie down or be seated, depending on their condition or age.

There is no need to remove any clothing, only coats, shoes and jewellery. The client will be covered with a cotton sheet or towel as that facilitates the techniques used. Therapeutic oils are used only on the hands, feet and neck. After the treatment, the practitioner may offer advice on exercise and stretching, diet and lifestyle.

Please wear loose clothing and no jeans for treatment
